Track & Trace  Online Machine

The Online Module is the digital core of the Track & Trace system — where every printed or scanned code is validated, logged, and linked to its database record in real time
I designed and implemented the electrical and automation logic that connects the hardware layer (printers, cameras, sensors) with the software platform, ensuring reliable data communication and production synchronization

My Role

As both the automation engineer and R&D lead, I was responsible for

  • Designing the electrical panel and interface wiring between PLC, HMI, printers, and vision systems

  • Developing the PLC logic for communication, error handling, and line synchronization

  • Coordinating with the software team to establish serial and TCP/IP communication protocols

  • Testing and validating real-time data transfer between production and the central database

  • Creating the HMI structure for operators to monitor connection status, printer state, and data flow

This project required a deep understanding of both mechanical process timing and data-driven control, to keep all modules (printer, camera, reject, and database) in perfect alignment

Technical Highlights

  • Modbus/TCP communication between PLC and central server

  • Dynamic data exchange for serialization and code validation

  • Real-time reject feedback linked with vision results

  • Error logging and live status monitoring via HMI

  • Complete traceability from print to reject in under 500 ms

Future Developments

  • Integration of cloud-based traceability for remote monitoring

  • Implementation of diagnostic dashboards for production data visualization

  • Expanding compatibility with new industrial printers and vision systems

  • Standardizing panel wiring for faster replication across multiple lines

My Vision

My goal for the next phase is to make the Online Module a fully modular, plug-and-play package — adaptable to different product lines and capable of real-time performance analytics
Every new version aims to reduce downtime, simplify maintenance, and provide full transparency of production data

Developing Our New Top-Print Track & Trace System

At Afshan Negar Arya, we’re developing a new online Track & Trace system designed for pharmaceutical packaging lines — featuring top-side printing for serialized codes and aggregation

As the Head of R&D, I’ve been leading the redesign process, focusing on both mechanical improvements and electrical design
The goal is to make the system more compact, operator-friendly, and easier to maintain
The current prototype is about 70% complete and we’re now performing mechanical validation tests before moving to the next integration phase

Electrical design and panel layout are fully done in EPLAN, ensuring reliability and serviceability in production environments

More updates and final photos will follow soon as we complete the final build

Custom Online Track & Trace Conveyor System

At Afshan Negar Arya, we recently designed and built a custom Track & Trace system for Behvarzan Pharmaceutical Co., a subsidiary of Abidi Group

This machine features a special high-friction conveyor to ensure stable product flow during serialization
The print head (HSA) and vision camera assemblies are designed on an adjustable structure — allowing both side and top printing configurations, depending on the packaging line layout

As the Head of R&D and Technical Manager, I led the redesign and system integration process, handled the electrical design in EPLAN, and personally executed the control panel build with proper wiring tags and documentation

This project reflects our continuous effort to provide practical, reliable, and operator-friendly serialization solutions tailored to our clients’ needs
