Overhaul

Restoring Power, Redefining Reliability

Overview

Over time, even the most reliable electrical panels lose efficiency, precision, and safety due to continuous operation and harsh industrial conditions.
At Aknova Engineering, I focus on bringing these systems back to life — not only by repairing faults but by re-engineering them for the next decade of performance.

Each overhaul project combines electrical diagnostics, redesign, and modernization, ensuring that aging equipment can operate with today’s precision, safety, and connectivity standards.

Process & Philosophy

Every refurbishment starts with deep technical evaluation — analyzing load conditions, wiring, protection circuits, and automation logic.
From there, I redesign the system using EPLAN, implementing new components and modern control architectures while maintaining the original mechanical footprint.

This approach guarantees:

  • Extended equipment lifetime

  • Improved reliability and accuracy

  • Reduced maintenance cost

  • Compliance with updated safety and pharma standards

I believe overhaul is not just repair — it’s engineering evolution, transforming what already exists into something smarter and more sustainable.

Technical Scope

The overhaul process typically includes:

  • Replacing outdated contactors, relays, and breakers with modern Schneider components

  • Upgrading PLC systems (FATEK, Omron) and adding remote I/O for better diagnostics

  • Rewiring and labeling according to EPLAN-based documentation

  • Retrofitting servo drives (LS, Delta, SEW) and optimizing motion sequences

  • Integrating sensor upgrades (Pepperl+Fuchs, Sick) for improved reliability

  • Adding HMI panels and Ethernet connectivity for real-time control

The result is a modernized electrical panel that performs better than it did when it was new.

Applications & Case Studies

I’ve performed multiple overhaul and retrofit projects across pharmaceutical packaging and industrial automation systems — including:

  • Serialization and Track & Trace lines

  • Labeling and printing systems

  • Motion control cabinets

  • Conveyor automation panels

In each project, the goal was not only restoration but enhancement — turning old panels into reliable cores for smart automation.

My Role & Expertise

As an electrical and automation engineer, I personally design, rebuild, and commission every refurbished system.
My experience in both control logic and hardware layout allows me to balance functionality, safety, and long-term maintainability.

Every project reflects my engineering mindset:

“If a system once worked well, it can be made to work even better.”

Looking Forward

The future of overhaul lies in predictive maintenance, data-driven diagnostics, and IoT-enabled control panels.
At Aknova Engineering, I am working toward integrating:

  • Remote monitoring and alerts

  • Smart sensors for fault prediction

  • Digital twins of control systems for faster troubleshooting

Through this evolution, even legacy equipment can become part of a smart, connected industrial ecosystem
